Attorney Adams is a solo practitioner, who personally tends
her client's important legal matters. Her daughter, Miranda Adams, provides support as a legal assistant. Clients may have the pleasure of meeting Assistant Adams during Signing Ceremonies, as she will often witness legal documents. While Attorney Adams will answer her own telephone when she is not with a client, occasionally Assistant Adams will receive calls. Sometimes callers may reach the voicemail system, and it is Attorney Adams' standard practice to return calls at her first available opportunity - and no later than the next business day.
Clients of Attorney Adams have the choice of meeting with her
in any one of several nice conference rooms she shares with colleagues, or to have Attorney Adams meet them at their homes, offices, hospitals, or facilities. While many attorneys
charge extra for out of office consultations, Attorney Adams finds value in visiting with her clients in their own environments.
She is able to better assess their needs, and understand their circumstances and wishes.
Attorney Adams prefers to invest in making her clients comfortable during meetings, instead of paying the overhead associated with a fancy office. Not having to maintain full time employees helps
keep Attorney Adams' overhead low, and her clients' attorney's
fees reasonable. Her private working office is quite secure.
Julie Jo Adams was born Julie Jo Varela. She earned her J.D. from Barry University in Orlando and her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama - Roll Tide! She has lived in Nevada and North Bavaria, retired a military spouse, and raised two
wonderful young women.
SUPPORT STAFF & OFFICE PRACTICES
"I'd rather hold a dead rat in my mouth than talk about fees."
While the above is a sentiment many people feel, it is important to talk about fees (and anticipated costs) with your attorney. One thing most people would find less palatable than having to pay a fee for legal representation is having to pay an unexpected fee for legal representation.
Attorney Adams does not like exposing her much valued clients to "fee surprises" either. She will discuss fees during initial consultation, and is usually able to provide a quote at the end of that consultation. She offers flat fees for many types of legal work. Sometimes hourly or percentage fees apply, and these matters are often subject to a minimum fee and initial retainer. Attorney Adams does not represent clients on a contingency fee basis. Written fee agreement and payment of any required minimum fees and initial retainers are required before representation will be accepted.
Attorney Adams provides free half hour no obligation initial consultations concerning estate planning, probates, trusts, and guardianships. Initial Consultations related to Medicaid Planning and some other Elder Law matters are subject to a flat fee. If a fee applies to your initial consultation, you will be informed of the fee at the time you make your appointment for initial consultation with Attorney Adams; and such a consultation fee will be due at the beginning of such consultation and is not refundable.
The practice of law is about helping people during some of the best and worst times of their lives. Attorney Adams knows from experience that it is possible to provide both compassionate and effective legal assistance, and sees it as her job to do so.
She believes in taking the time to get to know her clients, and in appropriate situations, their families too. She strives to help her clients feel comfortable talking to her, because trust and good communication are essential in an attorney-client relationship, and consulting with one's attorney should not be an intimidating experience.
Attorney Adams believes it is common courtesy to return phone calls and emails in a timely manner, to set expectations and communicate regularly and honestly with her clients, and to do the work she was hired to do for a fair and reasonable fee. She wants honesty, full disclosure, and cooperation from her clients, because these things are essential to effectively helping them.
When Attorney Adams accepts a client's legal matter, she gives that client her personal and dedicated attention. She respects that her client's legal matter is of the utmost importance to her client, and therefore considers it of the utmost importance to herself.
